SARAH VRIELING (1995)

Statement

My current work explores the power and vulnerability of femininity. I create figurative paintings in which faces are often missing or partially obscured. This choice shifts the focus from identity to feeling: to longing, intimacy, silence, and the secrets we carry within.

My visual language emerges from a combination of digital sketches and traditional painting techniques. Fields of color, contours, and minimal details create a graphic-figurative image that balances between recognition and distance, between dream and reality.

I see my paintings as moments of inner movement. Hiding, resurrecting, doubting, or daring. Universal stories carried by women, yet tangible for everyone. In each work, I seek peace, strength, and poetry in simplicity: a place where unspoken stories can become visible.
